Day 1: Siem Reap, Embark Cruise at Prek K’dam

Your journey begins today with a transfer to Prek K’dam to embark your cruise along the mighty Mekong River. Floating villages line the tributaries of this stunning region and quaint riverside towns and sleepy rural villages lend the Mekong a unique charm. Board your river ship, the RV La Marguerite, and get set to explore. The ship’s array of facilities ensures every moment of cruising presents the opportunity for relaxation and entertainment. This evening, after settling in to your suite, enjoy a delicious Welcome Dinner on board, savouring Asian or Western fare.

Day 2: Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Tralach, Oudong

Enjoy a small boat excursion of the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang and travel past a number of fishing villages. You’ll then rejoin your ship and continue on to Kampong Tralach. Like a Local - take an ox-cart ride, a popular method of transport in rural Cambodia. Like a Local - Travel to the former royal capital of Oudong for a traditional Buddhist blessing.

Day 3: Koh Chen, Phnom Penh

Explore Koh Chen today, a small village specialising in silver and copperware. Visit some home-workshops that manufacture handmade copper souvenirs. Then head to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital. Enjoy a delicious dinner on your ship tonight followed by a marvellous Khmer folk performance.

Day 4: Phnom Penh

This morning you will join an excursion to the infamous Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21). This afternoon in Phnom Penh, a tour takes you to visit the magnificent Royal Palace, which is the official residence of the King of Cambodia. You’ll also see the opulent Silver Pagoda, located within the Royal Palace complex. After dinner perhaps step out for an evening walk around this fascinating capital.

Day 5: Border Crossing, Tan Chau

Spend today on board as your ship cruises to the Vietnamese border. Offering views, reclining lounges, a swimming pool and cold drinks from the bar, the Sun Deck is a great place to relax. This afternoon, you might like to attend a fruit-carving demonstration by the ship’s chef while border formalities are carried out and you cross into Vietnam. Tonight, perhaps watch a documentary film about Pol Pot, leader of the Khmer Rouge, as your ship cruises towards Tan Chau.

Day 6: Tan Chau, Sa Dec

This morning after breakfast, transfer to a small boat and travel along the Mekong’s tiny tributaries home to villages full of stilt houses. Here, go ashore for a tour of Tan Chau by rickshaw and visit an island lush with greenery. Enhance this insight even further and visit fascinating local artisan workshops. This afternoon, perhaps attend an informative lecture on Vietnam in the ship’s lounge before a delicious dinner.

Day 7: Sa Dec, Cai Be

This morning, take a boat ride to Sa Dec for a tour. Here, you’ll see Huynh Thuy Le’s old house (once the lover of French writer Marguerite Duras, the namesake of the RV La Marguerite). After lunch, a local boat takes you to the river-land town of Cai Be. Go ashore to see Cai Be’s French Gothic Cathedral and a visit to a local rice paper manufacturer to learn how rice paper is made. Return to your ship for dinner.

Day 8: Disembark Ship, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Disembark at My Tho Port today and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
